WHISKY OF ASSAM NE INDIA

I have been involved with The Company Radiant Distillers since 2012. I met with Vicky & Roshan Chand in Edinburgh that year and what they informed about the future plans for their newly built state of the art Distillery and bottling facilities situated at Khatkhati, near the town of Dimapur NE Assam just on the border with neighbouring state of Nagaland, almost “Blew Me Away”. Of course It was a most fortuitous meeting with these two gentlemen because of my affinity to that region of India as a result of it being where my Father was born and raised for the first few years of his life. I have now visited Assam on numerous occasions, and have been struck by the friendliness and warmth of my reception(s). Of course we have much in common, when discussing not only whisky, but a plethora of other spiritous products produced not only at Khatkati, but also in another of Radiant’s facilities based on the edge of Guwahati, (the state capital) and reached by a bridge crossing the mighty Brahmaputra river. The photo above shows the Distillation Plant behind me on a steamy evening one November a year or two ago. India is rightly described “Incredible India”. // John.
