Putting Life into Perspective

There is nothing quite like the daily knife edge balance upon which the whole of humanity exists. This is most aptly demonstrated when people who you have known and in some cases have known of, pass away.

Sadly in my world, two such happenings have taken place within the past few weeks. Namely the death of my friend and ex colleague Colin Ross, and most recently in the last day or two, of Iain Henderson. Both of these gentlemen were ex managers of The one and only Laphroaig Distillery on the “Whisky Island”…Isle of Islay. I am also fortunate enough to have been one of the previous managers of that Lovely “Place in the Hollow”.

When we last visited, it was to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Laphroaig, and there were five surviving ex managers in attendance. Now there are just three of us left. Of course times through out history have always been full of uncertainty, and the present is no exception. Crucially though we Simply Must keep our Spirits Up, and live our lives to the fullest possible. So, let’s raise a glass to all of our friends and family who have passed on, for whatever the cause, and just remember how fortunate we are. Upwards and Onwards !
